Sweat It Out & Improve Health Under Our Far-Infrared Panels

Over the past few years there has been increased interest in trying out heated yoga practices (e.g. Bikram, Hot 26, Power, Hot/Warm Flow classes, etc.) for health benefits such as improved physical and mental fitness, increased flexibility and weight loss.

At The Yoga Hive you will notice that our heat comes from several white glass far-infrared panels (a type of radiant heating) fixed to the ceiling. If you have been to warm/hot classes elsewhere in Australia or overseas, you may have experienced different types of room heating (e.g. other radiant heating, fan-forced air heating, or steam heat) and are curious to know why our panels are special.

Aside from being quiet, energy efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly, far-infrared panel heaters are believed to offer many other benefits:

  • As our heat is not fan-forced into the room, dust and/or allergens are not given an opportunity to circulate. This may benefit people who suffer from seasonal breathing-related conditions, hay fever, etc.
  • Far-infrared panels produce heat that gently penetrates the skin and tissues and warms muscles quickly. This assists yogis to avoid injury (or lower the risk of injury), while increasing flexibility.
  • The heat is dry heat, rather than humid heat.
  • Far-infrared heat is also reported to:
    • detoxify the body
    • improve skin clarity
    • increase metabolism
    • improve energy levels
    • assist with weight loss efforts
    • improve cardiovascular strength
    • improve circulation in the body
    • support the immune system – improving the body’s natural ability to fight infection
    • build mind endurance (e.g. do you like to run marathons in the heat of Summer? This could help!), and
    • help conditions such as depression & anxiety (far-infrared mimics all the suns good stuff)
    • reduce muscular aches and pains
    • assist yogis to generally become more present and focused.
